Asmongold drew heat during a recent livestream when he outlined an extreme approach to handling protests against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations.
The streamer said he agreed with far-right commentator Nick Fuentes before detailing his preferred crackdown methods. “Put the mayors in jail. Put the governors on the Insurrection Act. Put them in prison labor camps. Authorize the police to respond with violence. Put them in Guantanamo Bay. Crush them.”
The statements targeted both protesters opposing ICE enforcement actions and local officials who resist federal immigration operations. Nick Fuentes is a far-right political figure known for extremist views and his “America First” podcast. He has been banned from multiple mainstream platforms for his content.
The Insurrection Act allows the U.S. President to deploy military forces domestically to suppress rebellion or enforce federal law. Using it against elected state governors would represent an unprecedented escalation. Guantanamo Bay is a naval detention facility primarily used for foreign terror suspects since 9/11.
Sending domestic protesters or U.S. officials to Guantanamo would raise serious constitutional issues. The facility exists outside normal U.S. legal jurisdiction.
Asmongold has increasingly mixed political commentary with his gaming content in recent years. He co-founded the OTK creator organization and frequently describes his political views as centrist. His streams regularly attract high viewership and generate viral clips.
The context question
Some viewers argued the statements specifically referenced violent protesters and officials ordering police not to intervene against lawbreakers. The circulating clip does not include visible qualifiers limiting the scope of the proposed measures.
ICE protests periodically occur across the U.S. over deportation policies and detention conditions. Some cities and states maintain “sanctuary” policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. This creates ongoing tension between local and federal authorities.
