Asmongold addressed Valkyrae’s public apology for DMing him during a recent stream. He made it clear he’s not offended and doesn’t want creators catching heat for associating with him.
Valkyrae told her audience she had messaged both Asmongold and nmplol for advice while dealing with flak over her handling of the ongoing Hasan Kaya controversy. Parts of her community pushed back on her choice of advisors. She then apologized on stream for reaching out to them.
The controversy centered on Valkyrae’s response to criticism involving another creator and animal training clips. She sought guidance from fellow streamers on how to handle the situation.
Asmongold’s response was measured and direct. He said he understood why creators might need to publicly distance themselves from him. He didn’t take offense to her apology and didn’t think one was necessary.
He went further and encouraged creators to make whatever choices protect their livelihood and brand. If avoiding association with him keeps them out of trouble, he said they should do it.
The OTK co-founder’s tone was calm throughout. He framed the entire situation as no hard feelings and explicitly tried to take pressure off Valkyrae.
His response stands out as unusually de-escalatory. Rather than treating her apology as throwing him under the bus, he gave her an out and made it clear he doesn’t expect loyalty when it could hurt someone’s career.
