Gen.G learned the hard way why you don't leave Bdd's signature champion in the draft.

TL;DR
  • Bdd on Azir killed Chovy twice in quick succession during a Worlds 2025 knockout match, first canceling his Teleport then solo killing him in lane without using his ultimate.
  • Chovy made multiple mechanical errors throughout the game including failed Flashes and getting caught by skillshots, unusual mistakes for a player of his caliber.
  • Gen.G's decision to leave Azir open in draft backfired as Bdd's signature champion dominated the mid lane matchup and created major map control advantages for KT Rolster.

KT Rolster mid laner Bdd delivered a clinic on Azir against Gen.G’s Chovy during a League of Legends World Championship 2025 knockout stage best-of-five. The clip that went viral shows two consecutive solo kills that shifted momentum firmly in KT’s favor.

The sequence started when Chovy attempted to escape a side lane via Teleport. Bdd chased him down and canceled the channel with a kill before Chovy could escape. Moments later, Bdd hunted Chovy in mid lane and secured another clean one-v-one kill without even needing his Emperor’s Divide ultimate.

These weren’t the only mistakes from Chovy that game. He failed a Flash earlier that led to a death, got hit by an Ashe arrow while Flash was still available, and in game one of the series, he had flashed directly into a Jarvan flag before stepping on a Caitlyn trap during a soul-point fight. For a player known for near-perfect mechanics, these errors stood out.

The draft choice became a central talking point. Azir has been Bdd’s signature champion for years in the LCK, yet Gen.G left it open. The Azir versus Orianna matchup is typically skill-dependent, but once Azir gets ahead, the champion’s zone control and soldier damage can suffocate the opposing mid laner.

Chovy’s Orianna ran Phase Rush for mobility, but it didn’t matter. Bdd’s spacing and soldier placement were precise enough to secure kills without needing his ultimate ability. That level of kill pressure from Azir in a supposedly even matchup raised questions about why Gen.G didn’t respect the pick in bans.

Gen.G’s decision not to ban Azir allowed Bdd to play on his signature champion against one of the best mid laners in the world. The result was a masterclass in lane control that punished every positioning mistake. For knockout stage Worlds matches where margins are razor-thin, leaving a comfort pick open can swing an entire game.
