TL;DR
  • Bethesda is asking Elder Scrolls fans for suggestions to improve Oblivion Remastered.
  • The community's top concerns include the broken difficulty scaling, cluttered inventory system, and outdated quest rewards.
  • Players can submit their feedback through Bethesda's official Discord channel while awaiting potential updates.

Bethesda has officially reached out to Elder Scrolls fans to ask for feedback on how to improve the recently released Oblivion Remastered. Through its Discord channel, the developer is encouraging players to share their thoughts on pain points and desired changes to enhance the remastered experience of the 2006 classic.

Front and center in player feedback is Oblivion‘s notorious difficulty and level scaling system. Many fans point out that the current difficulty settings create a frustrating experience where Adept difficulty feels too easy.

At the same time, Expert transforms enemies into damage sponges that can take ages to defeat. Players are requesting more granular difficulty options similar to those in Starfield.

“I would like it if my level 25 fully-daedric equipped 100STR/INT/AGI character can kill late game Goblin Warlords before I die of old age,” wrote one player, highlighting the absurdity of enemy health scaling at higher levels.

Inventory management ranks high on the community wishlist as well. Players want better sorting options, subcategories, a dedicated keyring for the game’s numerous keys, and easier access to crafting systems like alchemy and repair. The cluttered menus, a signature issue from the original release, continue to frustrate players in the remaster.

Quest rewards are another sticking point. Fans have suggested implementing a system where unique items from quests could scale with the player’s level or be upgraded later, preventing the disappointment of receiving legendary weapons that become obsolete within hours of gameplay.

Other quality-of-life requests include improved map navigation, a toggle for the new health regeneration system, the ability to hide helmets, character re-customization, and performance optimizations.

“Just let me turn off auto regen of health so I can justify all the potions in my inventory,” requested one player, reflecting a sentiment that while new features are welcome, players should have options to play with classic mechanics if they prefer.

Who’s going to fix Oblivion Remastered?

The robust modding community that kept the original Oblivion alive for nearly two decades has already begun addressing some of these issues. However, many players hope Bethesda will implement official fixes rather than relying solely on modders to solve fundamental gameplay problems that have persisted since 2006.

Bethesda hasn’t specified when or how it will implement community suggestions, but this direct engagement with fans signals its commitment to improving the remaster. Players interested in submitting feedback can join the official Bethesda Discord, which has become the primary feedback channel since the company shut down its forums.
