G2 Esports mid laner Caps publicly praised Los Ratones following their elimination from LEC playoff contention. Speaking after LR’s run ended, Caps said the team “should definitely be proud” of their performance.
“A lot of people were doubting them,” Caps admitted. “I was one of them.”
The praise carries weight coming from one of Europe’s most decorated players. Caps is a franchise cornerstone for G2 and has been a defining figure in the LEC since its inception.
Los Ratones entered the split with massive attention due to their roster featuring Thebausffs, Nemesis, Rekkles, Crownie, and Velja. Skepticism ran high about whether the team could translate streaming popularity and veteran pedigree into competitive results.
The team started poorly but showed clear improvement over the final weeks. They secured notable victories including a win against G2 themselves. Thebausffs even pulled out Kled in that match.
However, critical losses kept them out of playoffs. A defeat to Karmine Corp Blue proved particularly costly. Their final game saw Velja go 10/0 on a carry pick, but other results had already sealed their fate.
The best-of-one format and lack of tiebreaker games meant early-week results carried extra weight. Los Ratones finished tied with multiple teams on record but missed playoffs on tiebreaker rules.
Baus made it must-watch
Caps revealed he followed Los Ratones closely throughout their campaign. “It was fun for me to watch them,” he said. “Last year I watched a lot of their games.”
He specifically called out Thebausffs as a draw. “Watching Baus was entertaining.”
