Valve introduced a new hero to Deadlock‘s ongoing invite-only playtest. The Dazzling Celeste brings a circus performer aesthetic and a mobility kit that pushes the game’s movement system to its limit.
Celeste stands out visually with glittery animations and stylized movement that sells the circus fantasy. Her kit centers on extreme aerial control that lets players chain movement across the map in ways reminiscent of Source engine surfing.
Playtest participants say Celeste operates with custom gravity and air control separate from the standard movement rules. Players have demonstrated zipline-to-zipline travel through entire lanes without touching the ground. The technical skill ceiling appears high, but stamina-focused upgrades can extend aerial routes even for players still learning advanced movement tech.
Her projectiles naturally ricochet off surfaces for potential trick shots. The ultimate ability functions like Dota 2‘s hero Lich, bouncing between targets with one notable twist. It can bounce off Celeste herself, creating dangerous one-on-one scenarios when her ultimate is available.
Players unfamiliar with mobility counters may struggle against her. Items like Slowing Hex and Knockdown are already being discussed as essential picks for shutting down her aerial dominance.
Taking flight in alpha
Deadlock continues adding heroes and features despite remaining in closed alpha with no public release date. The game combines hero shooter mechanics with MOBA systems across a 1930s occult noir setting.
Valve recently added Street Brawl, a shorter game mode with round-based gameplay lasting 10–15 minutes. Players select from three random items after each round in a simplified progression system compared to the full MOBA mode.
