Emiru’s cooking stream took a dangerous turn when a small kitchen fire broke out on camera.

It started when a paper towel caught fire near an active gas stove burner. For some reason, Emiru decided to throw the burning paper towel ended up in a pan containing hot oil, causing the flames to flare up significantly.

The moment created a brief but risky situation. Hot oil fires can spread rapidly and are notoriously dangerous if handled incorrectly. Adding water to burning oil causes an explosive reaction as the liquid vaporizes instantly and sends flaming oil spraying in all directions.

Nick Polom finally stepped in and told them not to use water on the fire. The warning likely prevented things from getting much worse.

After much deliberation, they moved the burning pan outside rather than attempting to smother it on the stovetop. Emiru grabbed something to protect her hand from the hot handle before relocating the pan. Eventually they managed to get the fire outside and under control.

Fire safety experts typically recommend a different approach for grease fires. The standard procedure is to turn off the heat source immediately and cover the pan with a metal lid or baking sheet to cut off oxygen. A fire blanket or Class K fire extinguisher also works. The key is to avoid moving the pan if possible.

The fire was contained without any visible injuries or major property damage. The stream continued after it was resolved.
