Emiru received 1,000 gifted subscriptions during a recent livestream when a viewer used Twitch’s newly introduced bulk gifting option. The transaction was worth roughly $5,000 and happened in a single purchase.
The OTK member’s subscriber count jumped by about a thousand in seconds. Her on-stream reaction showed visible surprise as she processed what had just happened.
Twitch recently enabled viewers to gift up to 1,000 subscriptions in one transaction. The feature includes a bulk discount that brings the total cost to $4,990 down from the standard $5,990 price.
Before this change, big spenders had to repeatedly purchase smaller bundles of 20, 50, or 100 subs at a time. This made large gifting sessions time-consuming during live events and subathons.
The new option appears designed for high-volume donors. Twitch likely introduced it after events like Kai Cenat’s mafiathon where celebrities including Snoop Dogg and Ray J wanted to gift thousands of subs but faced transaction limits.
Each gifted subscription gives a viewer one month of channel benefits including ad-free viewing, emotes, and chat privileges. The purchases are one-time transactions, not recurring charges.
Twitch takes a cut of every subscription while the rest goes to the streamer. Standard partners receive a 50/50 split but top creators like Emiru typically negotiate better deals. Streamers at her level usually get 70% of subscription revenue.
Emiru doesn’t typically push for subscriptions on her streams and runs fewer ads than many creators at her level. She also offers a free subscription option via channel points for regular viewers.
Following the money
The $5,000 figure represents the buyer’s cost at standard US pricing. Emiru’s actual earnings from the gift depend on her revenue split with Twitch. At a 70/30 split she would receive approximately $3,500 from the transaction.
Regional pricing can affect the actual amount spent by donors. Viewers in certain countries pay less for subscriptions based on local purchasing power. Even with regional variations, streamers still receive their negotiated percentage of the revenue.
