T1 mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok has publicly addressed the departure of bot laner Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong in a recent interview. “It’s a bit sad that I won’t be able to play together anymore with Gumayusi, who worked so hard with us on the team,” Faker said. “But I hope he achieves great results on his new team going forward.”

Faker added that facing his former teammate as an opponent would be “interesting” and closed his comments with “Fighting!”—a common Korean expression of encouragement and support.

The split marks the end of one of League of Legends‘ most successful partnerships. Faker and Gumayusi competed together through multiple LCK championships and Worlds runs. Their roster, featuring Zeus, Oner, Faker, Gumayusi, and Keria, became one of the most dominant lineups in recent competitive history.

Gumayusi joined T1’s system as a young player and rose to become one of the premier AD carries in the LCK. His aggressive laning style and teamfight mechanics made him a crucial damage dealer for T1’s success. His bot lane partnership with support Keria was particularly feared by opponents.

Gumayusi’s move to HLE him a chance to prove himself outside of T1’s legendary system. He’s expected to become a cornerstone signing for whichever organization he joins.

Faker has remained T1’s constant through multiple roster generations. He’s played with countless legendary teammates who eventually departed, including Bang, Wolf, Bengi, and Duke. Each time, he continues as the franchise centerpiece while new players cycle in and out.
