fanfan has become quite the pariah online following some jokes aimed at fellow streamer Kai Cenat during her time floor-hosting for the Stream Awards. Following continued controversy around this Streamer Awards roast, fanfan has come out to explain her intentions with the jokes.
During The 2025 Streamer Awards, fanfan attempted a number of ‘bits’ during her routine as host, including a barrage of jabs at Cenat. These jokes included references to Sean “Diddy” Combs, a reference to an ongoing meme within streaming circles comparing Kai’s appearance to the disgraced musician.
The joke didn’t land well in the room, which was a trend for much of fanfan’s set. While, indeed, the audience wasn’t the lively sort for most of the night, the roast against Cenat went down with more tumbleweeds than the rest—and it’s not hard to see why. Whatever criticisms there might be of Cenat, most would agree that comparing him to Diddy (one of the most universally hated figures in entertainment) is more than a bridge too far.
In a recent stream, fanfan spoke about the Streamer Awards drama and put up a defence against many of the claims being made against her following the jokes. In particular, she rebuked the idea that the joke was racialised, saying “I’ve said a lot of racist sh*t in my life and that was not one of them” and that the bit came from a “running joke” within Cenat’s own community.
However, fanfan went on to admit that she did have “bad delivery,” but that nothing could be done about in the minute. She elaborated that she was awake for 26 hours prior to the moment, citing her sleep deprivation as reasoning for both the roast and her inability to pivot as she lost sway over the crowd.
When inside jokes meet outside audiences
While fanfan admitted herself that the way she told the joke was flawed, she certainly stuck to her guns against accusations of racism—which many fans have concurred with. Those reacting to the drama have largely agreed that Cenat’s own community makes these jokes enough already, and that the bigger problem was the wave of racism sent fanfan’s way over these slights.
Indeed, fanfan’s Streamer Awards controversy caused her to receive a wave of harassment, both from viewers and from fellow personalities, much of which has been racist in nature.
Nonetheless, it’d be hard to criticise those unaware of the context for being uncomfortable (so long as they were distancing themselves from the hate mob). P. Diddy is infamous for the allegations against him, as well as the other celebrities potentially implicated in said accusations. Any comparison to such a figure is bound to light a fuse, especially in a culture where fans are always looking to throw down.
