Fnatic has officially parted ways with mid laner Marek “Humanoid” Brázda, ending a partnership that began in late 2021. The organization announced the split today, though no details about the terms or Humanoid’s next destination were revealed.
The timing isn’t surprising. Humanoid has been on the bench for several weeks, with substitute player Poby taking over the starting mid lane position. This announcement simply makes the separation official.
During his three-plus years with Fnatic, Humanoid helped the team reach Worlds in 2022, 2023, and 2024. The squad came close to domestic glory multiple times, including a runner-up finish at the 2023 LEC Summer Finals where they lost to G2 Esports.
The 24-year-old Czech player has been one of Europe’s most consistent performers over the past six years. Before joining Fnatic, he played for Splyce and MAD Lions, winning two LEC titles with MAD in 2021. His most impressive stat? Six consecutive Worlds appearances from 2019–2024—the only European player to achieve this feat.
Humanoid was known for his aggressive playstyle and champion pool that included LeBlanc, Sylas, and Akali. At his peak, many considered him the second-best mid laner in Europe behind only Caps. However, his high-risk approach sometimes led to inconsistent performances.
For Fnatic, this move signals a new direction after years of falling just short of championships. The organization has struggled to find the right formula despite having talented players. Many pointed to synergy issues between Humanoid and jungler Razork as a persistent problem.
Where next for the wandering wizard?
Several teams could use a mid laner of Humanoid’s caliber. Fans have already started speculating about potential destinations including NAVI, Team Heretics, SK Gaming, Team Liquid, and Cloud9. However, mid-season roster rules and existing contracts could complicate any immediate move.
The European league has become more budget-conscious recently, which might limit options. Some teams already have long-term contracts with their mid laners. If Humanoid moves to North America, he would count as an import player, adding another layer of complexity.
