TL;DR
  • G2's jungle-support duo of Skewmond and Labrov completely dominated all three games.
  • MKOI threw Game 3 at level 1 by contesting red buff without smite.
  • Caps collected another LEC title while rookie Skewmond earned Finals MVP honors.

G2 Esports crushed Movistar KOI 3-0 in yesterday’s LEC Summer Finals, securing their spot as Europe’s top team heading into Worlds. The series was over before it began, with G2’s jungle-support duo running the show from minute one.

Skewmond and Labrov turned bot lane into their personal playground across all three games. The rookie jungler and his support partner controlled river vision, secured early objectives, and made life miserable for MKOI’s bottom side. Their dominance earned Skewmond the Finals MVP award on the broadcast.

Game one set the tone immediately. Hans sama and Labrov established bot pressure while Skewmond pathed through river like he owned it. When MKOI tried to gank Caps mid lane, the veteran mid laner survived the 2v1 and wasted crucial enemy cooldowns. From there, G2 converted their early advantages into map control and closed out cleanly.

The second game gave MKOI fans a glimmer of hope. The Spanish squad found windows to contest objectives and created opportunities in the mid-game. But when it mattered most, G2 executed a textbook engage with a teleport flank that turned the game on its head. One Baron later, the game was over.

The level one that broke Spain’s heart

Game three will haunt MKOI jungler Elyoya forever. After using smite on his raptors, he decided to contest G2’s red buff without it. Against Volibear. With Karma nearby. The predictable disaster hit fast as Skewmond and Labrov collapsed for easy kills and an insurmountable early lead.

G2 drafted Caitlyn-Karma specifically to dominate bot lane, and MKOI’s level-one gift made their job even easier. Within minutes, G2 dove bot lane repeatedly while Volibear farmed freely. The game snowballed out of control before minions had even reached the second wave. Top laners BrokenBlade and Myrwn watched the carnage from their island, probably discussing dinner plans.

Caps added yet another LEC trophy to his collection, extending his record as the most decorated player in European League history. While Jojopyun showed flashes of brilliance for MKOI, the jungle-bot canyon was too wide to overcome. G2 now enters Worlds as Europe’s premier team, looking sharper than they have all year.
