GameStop will keep selling one-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate codes for $19.99 despite Microsoft’s recent price increase to $29.99 per month. The retailer confirmed it plans to honor the old pricing on its existing stock of digital codes.
The discount applies to physical cards sold in stores and digital codes purchased online. Customers buying these codes save $10 per month compared to subscribing directly through Microsoft.
The bigger opportunity lies in stacking. Microsoft allows Game Pass subscribers to redeem codes for up to 36 months of service on a single account. That means savvy shoppers can lock in three years at the old rate by buying multiple codes now.
At $19.99 per code versus Microsoft’s new $29.99 monthly rate, that adds up to $360 in total savings over three years. The deal only lasts while GameStop’s inventory holds out. The retailer has not announced plans to restock at the legacy price once current supplies sell through.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes access to hundreds of games across console and PC, cloud streaming support, online multiplayer, and EA Play membership. The service launched at $14.99 per month in 2019 before Microsoft raised prices to match increased value and content costs.
Other major retailers are also clearing old inventory at pre-hike prices. Amazon UK still lists codes at legacy rates, and similar patterns are appearing at retailers worldwide as they work through stock purchased before Microsoft’s pricing change.
How to redeem the codes
Customers can activate codes at redeem.microsoft.com by signing into their Microsoft account and entering the 25-character code. Each code adds exactly one month to the subscription, and the new expiration date appears immediately under account services.
Codes typically don’t expire quickly, but buyers should check any fine print on specific SKUs. Microsoft honors term-based subscription codes at their labeled value, so a one-month code redeems as one month of service regardless of current pricing.
