Gen.G officially confirmed that support player Duro has signed a multi-year contract extension. The organization announced he will serve as the team’s starting support for the 2026 LCK season.
Korean press reports suggest the deal runs through the end of 2027, making it a two-year extension. Gen.G’s official statement guarantees Duro’s presence through at least 2026.
The timing follows Gen.G’s 2024 Worlds campaign that ended in the semifinals. The announcement arrives during an active offseason period when top LCK teams are finalizing rosters for 2025.
Duro made his LCK debut with Gen.G in 2024 and quickly established chemistry with veteran ADC Ruler. He earned recognition throughout the year for his engage timing, consistency in high-pressure matches, and adaptability across meta shifts.
His champion pool centered on engage and utility picks like Rell, Nautilus, and Rakan. He showed the flexibility to pivot to enchanters when drafts demanded it.
Gen.G dominated domestically in 2024 but fell short of their international goals. The decision to extend Duro signals confidence in the current bot lane formula rather than chasing external upgrades.
Shutting down the rumor mill
The extension effectively ends speculation that Gen.G would pursue Kael as a replacement. Offseason chatter suggested the organization explored acquiring both Tarzan and Kael as a package to import their existing jungle-support synergy.
With Duro locked in, Gen.G has chosen continuity over that potential pairing. No official statements ever confirmed interest in Kael.
The Ruler-Duro partnership now has runway to develop further. Ruler brings veteran leadership and mechanical mastery while Duro adds aggressive engage tools and developing shotcalling.
Gen.G’s support position has seen turnover in recent years. Keeping Duro represents a shift toward stability after cycling through multiple high-profile names.
The organization maintains one of the most expensive rosters in the LCK with Kiin, Canyon, Chovy, and Ruler. Securing Duro fits their pattern of retaining key talent while building around established cores.
