Leaked GTA V source code materials reportedly contain character assets that appear to identify the protagonist from Agent, Rockstar Games’ long-canceled spy thriller.
The alleged discovery surfaced through analysis of the leaked materials. Fans examining the code claim to have found character-related data that looks purpose-built for Agent rather than GTA V. The exact nature of the asset remains unclear, but discussions suggest it could be a character model, texture reference, or identifying information tied to the shelved project.
Agent was announced in 2009 as a PlayStation 3 exclusive. Rockstar pitched it as a Cold War spy thriller, but the company released virtually no promotional material over the years. The studio eventually let the trademark lapse, signaling the project had been abandoned.
This checks out from a development perspective. Major studios regularly maintain shared asset libraries across multiple projects. Prototype models, test rigs, and placeholder content often persist in internal repositories long after a project ends. When source code leaks, these orphaned assets can surface alongside shipping content.
The ghost finally shows his face
The character model reportedly resembles Niko Bellic from GTA IV, suggesting either a placeholder mesh was used during early Agent development or the same facial scanning pipeline produced similar results. This was common practice during the late 2000s and early 2010s when both games would have been in concurrent development.
Rockstar has not commented on the leaked materials or the alleged Agent assets. The studio has remained focused on GTA VI, which is scheduled for release in 2026. Multiple canceled projects, including the repeatedly rumored Bully 2, were reportedly shelved as Rockstar consolidated resources for Red Dead Redemption 2 and the next Grand Theft Auto.
