Rapper BTB Dezz was on Kai Cenat’s Twitch stream was caught using a homophobic slur multiple times during the streamer’s ongoing Mafiathon 3. Video clips circulating on social media show at least three separate instances where the F-slur can be heard from someone in the background.
The incidents occurred during Cenat’s subathon, where multiple friends and guests were present in the room. In one widely shared clip, Dezz can clearly be heard saying the slur while walking through the background.
Kai’s immediate reaction focused on the streaming implications rather than condemning the language itself. He told the Dezz, “don’t say that while I’m streaming,” and later claimed “it’s freedom of speech.” This response has drawn criticism from those expecting stronger pushback against hate speech.
Twitch’s Community Guidelines explicitly prohibit hateful slurs targeting protected groups, including derogatory language based on sexual orientation. The platform holds streamers responsible for all content broadcast on their channels, including what guests say.
Despite multiple reports being filed, no visible enforcement action from Twitch was apparent at the time clips began circulating. That has prompted more questions about inconsistent moderation, especially after streamer Tectone reportedly received a ban for using the same slur.
The situation is particularly notable given Kai Cenat’s status as one of Twitch’s most-watched creators. His subathons regularly break viewership records and attract massive audiences. With great viewership comes greater scrutiny over what airs on stream.
Previous incidents have shown Twitch can take action hours or even days after violations occur. The platform typically doesn’t comment on individual moderation decisions, leaving streamers and viewers to speculate about potential consequences.
