During a recent Twitch broadcast, Hasan Piker’s dog Kaya audibly yelped while moving off her bed positioned near his desk.
Piker told viewers that Kaya likely “clipped herself on something” while getting off the bed. He remained seated at his desk and did not inspect the dog on camera immediately after the yelp.
A clip of the moment shows Piker verbally directing Kaya back toward her bed position. As she moves, a sharp yelp is heard. Kaya quickly returns to the bed and settles. Piker continues speaking to his stream and characterizes Kaya as “spoiled” when referencing her care.
The clip circulated online and prompted questions from viewers. Some speculated the yelp could have been caused by an electronic collar. Others suggested her paw or nail may have snagged on the bed’s edge or fabric.
Piker did not show or remove Kaya’s collar on stream to address the questions. He has not provided additional clarification about what happened or what type of collar Kaya wears. Although there is a video circulating of her wearing what seems to be the same collar with a green flashing light on it, viewed here.
Electronic collars can deliver various forms of stimulation including vibration and static correction. They are legal to purchase and use in California where Piker streams from. Many dog trainers caution that such devices require careful conditioning and professional guidance.
Twitch’s Community Guidelines prohibit content showing or promoting animal cruelty. Enforcement is handled case-by-case based on visible evidence and context.
The cause of Kaya’s yelp remains unverified. No follow-up information about an off-camera inspection or Kaya’s condition has been shared publicly.
