Hasan Piker responded to viewers who claimed he could no longer call himself irrelevant after appearing at Zohran Mamdani’s election-night watch party.
During a recent livestream, the political commentator addressed a chatter who told him he wasn’t allowed to downplay his influence anymore. Background footage showed Piker being interviewed at the venue earlier that evening.
“I’ll let my work speak for itself… yeah, I’ll stay humble,” Piker said in response.
The exchange highlights an ongoing tension between Piker’s massive online platform and how he frames his real-world political impact. Despite being one of Twitch’s top political streamers with a dedicated audience of tens of thousands, Piker consistently describes himself as “just a streamer” and has repeatedly said he doesn’t view himself as a political kingmaker.
Although Piker attended the watch party for Mamdani, a progressive New York State Assembly member from Queens who has been aligned with the Democratic Socialists of America, he was not allowed into the VIP area of the party.
The moment came as Piker reviewed footage from the night before on his stream. His insistence on attempting to stay humble despite growing mainstream shows that his online clout doesn’t always translate to real-world influence.
