TL;DR
  • Cenat hit 1 million active Twitch subs after streaming for 27 days straight, breaking all previous platform records.
  • The milestone coincided with a Valorant-funded promotion that added one free gift sub for every five purchased site-wide.
  • Celebrity guests and major brands appeared on stream to gift subscriptions during the final push to seven figures.

Kai Cenat made streaming history on September 28 when his subscriber count crossed one million during a marathon broadcast. The moment marked the first time any Twitch channel has reached seven figures in active subscriptions.

The milestone happened during Cenat’s 27-day nonstop stream. He started the marathon at the beginning of September and kept going around the clock with the help of his team. A live counter on screen tracked subscriptions throughout, building anticipation as the number climbed toward one million.

The final push came during Twitch’s Subtember finale event. From September 26 to October 1, Valorant funded a site-wide promotion where every five gift subscriptions triggered one bonus gift sub automatically. This meant Valorant appeared as a top gifter on channels across Twitch, including Cenat’s.

Major brands and celebrities joined the subscription push. Snoop Dogg, eBay, Crocs, State Farm, T-Mobile, and Bose all appeared on stream and gifted subscriptions. The combination of celebrity involvement, the Valorant bonus, and Cenat’s dedicated audience created perfect conditions for the record-breaking moment.

The achievement demolishes previous Twitch subscription records. Cenat himself held the previous high mark with around 306,000 active subscribers during a 30-day subathon in early 2023. Other streamers like Ironmouse had crossed 200,000 in their own marathons, but nobody had come close to one million until now.

Most of the subscriptions were gifted rather than purchased directly by viewers. This is normal for subathon-style streams where gifted subs often extend timers or help reach goals. The subscriber count represents a snapshot in time and will naturally decrease as the 30-day gift subscriptions expire.
