Kick streamer MikeLiaory wrecked his car during a livestream when he ran a red light and got hit by cross traffic. The entire crash was captured on his own Kick channel, which is (at time of writing) now banned following the incident.
A surviving clip of the stream shows MikeLiaory approaching an intersection at night, his camera facing forward through the windshield. Ahead of him were four red lights, before which the streamer stopped.
He then proceeded to continue driving, at which point a vehicle traveling on the cross street and slammed into his car. The impact was immediate and loud.
In a version of the full stream on MikeLiaory’s YouTube, which has yet to be banned, the streamer’s camera remains in the vehicle for a while as Liaory and his passenger step out to assess the damage, amounting to a complete scarring of the vehicle’s front end.
Fellow streamer Lordhito, who was live at the same time, arrived on the scene and recorded the damage (which has been spliced into the most widespread clip of the incident). Lordhito also captured Liaory arguing that the crash was a consequence of the fact he “didn’t know there was a light.” This has been disputed by viewers, who have argued that MikeLiaory stopped at the red lights, and thus made the wilful decision to recklessly run them.
The state of the driver MikeLiaory crashed into is presently unknown.
A terrible trend on Kick
The rise of IRL Kick streams has led to many streams of this sort, where the host is in communication with their stream chat while trying to navigate the road. It’s hard to argue that this style of streaming isn’t incredibly reckless, especially at the high speed limits roads in Los Angeles (where the incident occurred) can reach.
It does seem that Kick is starting to be a tad more ready to ban those endangering others on film. The Jack Doherty car crash a year ago only won that streamer a temporary ban, but it seems as if his more recent arrest might have him gone for good. However, given that these car crash stunts repeatedly end only in slap-on-the-wrist temp bans, it’s sadly likely that incidents of this nature could only proliferate, unless Kick finally brings the hammer down completely.
