A leaked listing by Taiwanese Game Rating Board suggests Devil May Cry 5 is heading to Nintendo Switch 2 under a new edition label called “Devil Hunter Edition.” The leak hasn’t been verified by Capcom or Nintendo, but if accurate, this would mark the first time Devil May Cry 5 has appeared on Nintendo hardware.
The 2019 action game originally released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It later received a Special Edition release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2020, which added Vergil as a playable character, Turbo Mode, Legendary Dark Knight Mode with increased enemy counts, and ray tracing support on compatible platforms.
The “Devil Hunter Edition” name suggests this could be another distinct version rather than a straight port of the base game. Whether it includes Special Edition features like Turbo Mode and LDK Mode remains unknown. Capcom has previously released different editions across platforms with varying content, so the Switch 2 version could land anywhere between the vanilla release with DLC or a feature-complete package.
Devil May Cry has a spotty history on Nintendo platforms. The original Switch received ports of Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition, but Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition never made the jump. This means Nintendo players could potentially skip from Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition straight to Devil May Cry 5, leaving a numbered gap in the series.
Devil May Cry 5 runs on Capcom’s RE Engine, the same scalable technology powering Monster Hunter Rise, Resident Evil remakes, and Street Fighter 6. The engine has proven versatile across platforms, and since Devil May Cry 5 originally ran on PS4 and Xbox One hardware, a Switch 2 port appears technically feasible.
Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition‘s absence from Switch remains unexplained. The game uses Capcom’s older MT Framework engine rather than RE Engine, which could complicate porting priorities. Some fans hope Capcom might announce Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition alongside Devil May Cry 5 for Switch 2 to fill the series gap, though nothing suggests this beyond speculation.
