Fnatic’s Lospa delivered a surprisingly direct interview where he apologized for his team’s performance after Los Ratones failed to qualify for the LEC playoffs.
“I’m a big fan of Los Ratones and I really wanted them to make playoffs,” Lospa said. “We performed really badly. It’s just sad and I’m sorry for them.”
Los Ratones had been one of the split’s most-watched teams, bringing significant viewership to regular season matches. Their playoff hopes came down to final-day scenarios involving multiple teams’ results, but ultimately fell short.
Rather than deflecting, Lospa turned the focus inward. He outlined specific changes Fnatic needs to make going forward.
“We need to be open-minded and take more feedback from our coaches,” he said. “We need to be more serious with ourselves and push harder than we have been.”
The statement addresses what has become a recurring pattern for Fnatic. Despite being one of Europe’s most historic League of Legends organizations, the team has struggled to meet expectations in recent splits.
The same script every split
Fnatic players and staff have repeatedly emphasized the need to “work harder” and “be more serious” in post-match interviews across multiple seasons. Lospa’s comments about accepting coaching feedback suggest deeper issues with the team’s practice culture and player-coach alignment.
In pro League of Legends, teams typically structure their improvement around VOD reviews, scrim blocks, and coaching staff analysis. When a player publicly calls for the team to “take more feedback from coaches,” it signals a breakdown in that process.
