Arc System Works has revealed Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners as the fourth and final character in Guilty Gear Strive‘s Season Pass 4. The announcement came through an action-packed trailer that showcased the netrunner’s fighting style, complete with her iconic monowire weapon and hacking abilities straight from Night City.
This marks a historic moment for the Guilty Gear franchise, as Lucy becomes the very first guest character to join the roster. The trailer faithfully captures her look and abilities from the hit Netflix anime series, even featuring the emotional track “Really Wanna Stay at Your House” that Edgerunners fans will instantly recognize.
What stands out most in Lucy’s gameplay reveal is how Arc System Works has translated her netrunner skills into fighting game mechanics. The trailer shows her accessing what looks like a tweaked version of Cyberpunk 2077‘s hacking interface, letting her use “quickhacks” against opponents during battle.
Lucy’s addition is part of a bigger season 4 update that brings major changes to Guilty Gear Strive. Players can look forward to a brand new Ranked Match mode, replacing the tower system that’s been around since the game’s launch in 2021. The update will also include balance changes across the whole roster.
Arc System Works’ technical skills are on full display with Lucy’s arrival. The character model keeps the studio’s signature style of making 3D graphics look like hand-drawn 2D animation, while staying impressively true to her appearance in the anime. One fan comment highlighted in the announcement said, “It’s absolutely mind-blowing. The animation is on another level.”
Night City meets Guilty Gear
The crossover is a team-up between Arc System Works and CD Projekt Red, with reports saying CD Projekt Red suggested using a Cyberpunk character after Arc System Works reached out about working together. Lucy was picked for her unique abilities and iconic status within the Cyberpunk universe.
For fans of both franchises, this crossover feels like a real mashup rather than just tossing in a character. Lucy is reportedly getting extra story content, showing Arc System Works’ commitment to making their first guest character actually matter to the game.
