Ludwig has announced “Tip 2 Tip China,” a new travel series documenting a 3,000-mile motorcycle journey across mainland China. The project follows his previous “Tip 2 Tip Japan” series and promises to be even more ambitious in scope.
The route starts in Guangzhou in southern China and ends near the Mongolian border in the north. Ludwig and his travel partner Michael will spend 19 days covering the distance, five days longer than their Japan trip.
Episodes will begin releasing around March 20. Ludwig is reportedly leaving this Saturday to start filming, meaning the entire series will be shot and edited before the first episode drops. This follows the format of the Japan series, which was released as polished episodes rather than livestreamed.
The motorcycle journey comes with specific constraints that add difficulty to the route. According to details shared by Ludwig, the duo can’t pass through major “tier 1” cities—China’s designation for metros like Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. Motorcycle restrictions in these urban centers mean the route will emphasize rural and intercity travel instead.
The series also maintains the “tip-to-tip” challenge format. This means limited map usage and avoiding highways where possible, forcing the travelers to navigate using local knowledge and problem-solving rather than standard GPS routes.
China’s scale makes this a big undertaking. The 3,000-mile distance is roughly equivalent to crossing the United States coast-to-coast. The route will take them through dramatic climate shifts from the subtropical south to the colder northern regions, along with varying terrain and population density.
Previous travel series from Ludwig have performed strongly on YouTube, combining adventure with structured challenges and time pressure. The “tip-to-tip” concept turns standard travel vlogging into something more competitive—reaching a specific endpoint within a set timeframe while working around intentional limitations.
