The addition of a Bob-omb to the Battle Mode icon strongly suggests Nintendo is adding Bob-omb Blast as a third Battle Mode option. In previous Mario Kart games, Bob-omb Blast is a competitive mode where players exclusively use Bob-ombs to score points against opponents rather than popping balloons or collecting coins.

This timing points to a potential MAR10 Day reveal, with March 10th being Nintendo’s annual celebration of all things Mario.
