Former UFC champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson wants wrestler Syko Stu to publicly state that his son Raja was supposed to be in the ring before a violent attack that left Stu hospitalized.
During a recent stream, Rampage said Stu should “take some accountability” and clarify that Raja didn’t “sneak” into the ring. The comments come after video of Raja brutally beating an unconscious Stu went viral online.
The attack happened at an independent wrestling show where Raja was apparently scheduled to participate in a staged segment with Stu. Wrestling uses planned “spots” where performers pretend to fight while keeping each other safe.
But what happened went far beyond normal wrestling. Video shows Raja taking Stu to the ground and repeatedly punching him. Even after Stu appeared unconscious, Raja kept hitting him until others pulled him off.
According to viewer reports, Stu suffered serious injuries, including head trauma and lost teeth. He was taken to the hospital and has made this statements since the attack.
What makes this worse is that Raja allegedly said beforehand he wasn’t going to “work” the segment. In wrestling terms, this means he planned to really hurt Stu instead of performing safely.
Rampage’s demand for a statement seems to miss the point. Even if Raja was allowed in the ring, beating an unconscious performer goes against every rule of professional wrestling. Wrestlers trust each other to stay safe during staged fights.
The 25-year-old Raja trains with his famous father but isn’t an experienced wrestler himself. No arrest has been reported yet, though some believe police may still be investigating.
Wrestling fans point out that Rampage asking for “accountability” from the victim is backwards. One viewer wrote: “What he’s actually saying: The victim should make a statement that makes it obvious Raja’s actions were premeditated.”
