Los Ratones is no more. But is goodbye, or see you later?
The League of Legends team officially ended after finishing ninth in the LEC Spring Split 2026. Only the top eight teams advanced to the playoff best-of series stage. Los Ratones missed the cut.
The project was spearheaded by Caedrel and featured a roster packed with recognizable names. Nemesis held down mid lane. Rekkles returned to competitive play as ADC. Crownie filled the support role. Thebausffs took top lane.
Creator-driven teams rarely compete at Tier one level. The infrastructure demands and time commitment make it difficult. Los Ratones stood out as one of the few successful attempts to close the gap between streaming and professional competition.
The team started rough but showed improvement as the split progressed. They climbed from early losses to threaten playoff qualification. The final day came down to results and tiebreakers. They came up one spot short.
The LEC runs on a franchised model. Teams hold long-term partnership slots rather than earning promotion through regional leagues. Los Ratones could theoretically compete in the European Regional Leagues but chose to end the project instead.
Multiple factors contributed to the decision. Thebausffs reportedly has no interest in continuing competitive play. The team would need to either purchase an LEC slot or compete in lower tiers. Neither option aligned with the project’s goals.
What could have been
Fans wanted to see Los Ratones in best-of series. The team only played best-of-one matches during the regular season. The format gives teams less room to adapt and showcase strategic depth.
The ending feels abrupt. Los Ratones delivered unique content throughout their run. Behind-the-scenes streams and player personalities made them more accessible than traditional orgs. The roster mixed veteran talent with unconventional picks.
