A fabricated announcement styled as an official Sentinels statement declared that the team acquired TenZ and received a roster lock exception for an upcoming Masters event.

The fake social media post mimicked the Sentinels’ formatting and stated that the team requested an exception to add a substitute during the roster lock period. It claimed Riot granted the request and that Sentinels “acquired all rights to Tyson Ngo (TenZ),” while stating he would “no longer represent Cloud9.”

The supposed roster listed ShahZaM, shroud, zombs, dapr, and TenZ as a stand-in. This lineup combines names from different eras of VALORANT esports with shroud thrown in for maximum attention.

Unfortunately for those wishing to see TenZ return to VALORANT with Sentinels, this announcement is an April Fool’s joke. No official VALORANT Esports channels or Sentinels accounts posted any such ruling.

The nostalgia trap

Roster announcements in VALORANT typically come through official team channels, league broadcasts, or verified Riot communications. Teams can’t simply acquire players mid-tournament without clear documentation appearing across multiple official sources.

The fake announcement carries extra bite because TenZ actually did join Sentinels during VALORANT‘s early competitive days. He started with Cloud9 before becoming synonymous with Sentinels through a loan arrangement that turned permanent. That history makes a “TenZ returns to Sentinels” story plausible enough to fool casual observers.
