Riot Games has disqualified Summit from the LTA North Promotion Tournament after determining he violated competitive integrity rules during an active match. The former LCS MVP was caught accessing a live YouTube VOD of the game he was playing while the match was paused.
Broadcast footage showed Summit alt-tabbing to view the stream during the tournament series between his team Estral Esports and Disguised. The VOD provided information unavailable to players in-game, including full-map vision without fog of war and production replays. Riot investigated and ruled this violated Article 4.3 of the Esports Global Code of Conduct.
Summit is a veteran Korean top laner who won the 2022 LCS Spring MVP award with Cloud9. He previously competed for SANDBOX Gaming in the LCK before moving to North America. His career also includes stints with FPX in the LPL and Team Liquid in the LCS. The disqualification from a North American promotion event marks a sharp fall for a player of his caliber.
The ruling removes Summit from the tournament immediately but doesn’t disqualify Estral Esports. The team must continue with its registered substitute for top lane. That substitute is Shintalx, primarily known as a mid-lane content creator with high solo queue rank but minimal professional experience. Teams cannot sign new players mid-tournament under current rules.
Riot stated it will publish a comprehensive disciplinary ruling with potential additional sanctions later on its Competitive Operations website. The extended ruling could include suspensions spanning multiple Riot-sanctioned competitions, fines, or other penalties. The immediate disqualification only covers this specific tournament.
