Shifters mid laner Nuc took to X immediately after his team’s loss to Los Ratones to vent his frustration in a public rant that’s now making waves across the League of Legends scene.
The post-match meltdown came after Shifters threw away what viewers described as an 8,000 to 10,000 gold lead in their best-of-one match. Despite dominating the early and mid game, Shifters couldn’t close out and Los Ratones completed the comeback.
“They should be like 0-12 on their side,” Nuc wrote on X. “They’re somehow getting wins, what the hell are we even doing bro…”
He continued by addressing critics who were already piling on after the loss. “Go ahead and have fun insulting us just because LR won a game… Some of you are getting way too cocky…”
The match itself featured questionable draft choices from Shifters, including an AD Nidalee top pick that drew heavy criticism. Despite building their massive lead, Shifters reportedly pushed into Los Ratones’ base attempting to force a fight and got punished hard. Los Ratones, featuring Nemesis on Ryze, held on defensively before turning the game in critical late-game teamfights.
A gold lead of that size in professional play typically signals a near-guaranteed win if executed properly. Shifters needed to use their advantage to set up vision, secure Baron, and pressure multiple lanes. Instead, they forced fights they didn’t need to take.
The loss stings extra hard in a best-of-one format where a single mistake costs the entire match. No chance for adaptation or redemption in later games.
Los Ratones features a roster that includes recognizable names like Rekkles, Nemesis, Crownie, and Baus. The team carries both an underdog narrative and a large following, making losses against them particularly painful for opponents who expect to win.
When winning becomes losing
Nuc previously competed at the highest levels with Team BDS, including appearances at Worlds. That history makes the public breakdown more notable since he’s experienced enough to know better than to force fights from ahead.
The draft issues compounded the throw. Shifters ran Nidalee top, Vi jungle, Taliyah mid, Lucian bot, and Neeko support. The composition required ending early before Los Ratones’ scaling kicked in. They had the lead to do exactly that but couldn’t execute when it mattered.
