TL;DR
  • Mang0 repeatedly "humped" Maya's head and grabbed Emily's hair during a drunk Mario Kart stream hosted by Ludwig.
  • The Smash Bros pro arrived already heavily intoxicated and blew a shocking BAC reading on stream.
  • Other streamers including Ludwig tried to intervene but the inappropriate behavior went on for the rest of the event.

Super Smash Bros. Melee pro Joseph “Mang0” Marquez got plenty of attention during a recent livestreamed drinking event when he repeatedly “humped” streamer Maya Higa’s head while visibly intoxicated. This happened during a “Beerio Kart” session hosted by Ludwig Ahgren, where several well-known content creators gathered to play drunk Mario Kart.

Clips from the stream show Mang0 coming up behind Maya several times, making thrusting motions against her head while she clearly looked uncomfortable. She clearly tried to get away from these unwanted advances during the stream.

Maya wasn’t the only target of Mang0’s antics. The Smash Bros. veteran also reportedly grabbed Extra Emily’s hair and tried pulling it, prompting Ludwig to step in and stop him. At another point, Mang0 was seen humping a cardboard cutout of himself—behavior that went on throughout the event.

Viewers and other streamers there said Mang0 had downed a lot of alcohol before even showing up. He reportedly blew an extremely high BAC reading on-stream, which left other participants stunned. Someone watching pointed out he was “seven beers in before the event started.”

This isn’t Mang0’s first alcohol-related mess. The 32-year-old player, considered one of the “Five Gods of Melee,” has a history of this sort of behavior. He was previously banned from Twitch for suggestive conduct, including “humping” an anime figurine during a stream. His tendency to cross lines when drunk has been going on for over a decade in the public eye.

Throughout the broadcast, other streamers, including Ludwig and DougDoug, tried to redirect or calm Mang0 down. Despite their efforts, the inappropriate behavior kept up for hours, according to witnesses.

What happened here has people worried about streamer safety at group events—especially with alcohol in the mix and boundaries being pushed. Many are now questioning whether it was smart to invite Mang0 to an event like this given his past, while others are saying that as a father and public figure, this is absolutely not the example he should be setting.
