TL;DR
  • Studytme accelerated forward while looking backward in a rented MR2, striking a bystander and then a parked GT-R at a Japanese car meet during a livestream.
  • Both vehicles sustained significant damage, and the crash was caught on camera.
  • The MR2 was a rental from OnlyJDM with insurance coverage that will likely face substantial claims for the multi-vehicle collision.

IRL streamer Studytme crashed a rented Toyota MR2 into a parked Nissan GT-R during a livestreamed car meet in Japan. A bystander standing next to the GT-R was briefly struck before the collision.

The crash happened while Studytme attempted to reposition the MR2 in a tight parking space inside a multi-level facility. The livestream footage shows her looking backward as the car suddenly lurched forward instead of reversing.

The MR2’s front-left corner made contact with a man standing beside the GT-R, pushing him back. The car then immediately struck the parked GT-R. The windshield wipers briefly activated during the collision, suggesting a panic reaction at the controls.

Both vehicles sustained visible damage. The MR2’s front end, including the bumper and headlight area, was crushed. The GT-R suffered damage to its rear and side panels where the impact occurred. No airbags deployed.

The MR2 was a rental from OnlyJDM, a Japan-based company that specializes in renting classic Japanese sports cars to enthusiasts and tourists. OnlyJDM rentals typically require an International Driving Permit and include specified insurance coverage. Deductibles and liability for multi-vehicle collisions can be substantial.

Studytme has been involved in driving-related incidents before. A previous clip showed a near-miss while streaming in a Tesla with driver-assist engaged. Viewers have repeatedly expressed concern about her multitasking while driving during livestreams.

The footage shows Studytme appearing shaken after the crash. Her companion, identified by viewers as fellow streamer Zumi, exited the vehicle following the collision. The bystander remained standing after being struck, though the extent of any injuries was not visible in the clip.

No official statements have been released by Studytme, OnlyJDM, or the GT-R owner. It remains unclear whether police were called to the scene or if the bystander required medical attention.
