TL;DR
  • Supergiant Games has released Patch 11 for Hades II, the final update before Version 1.0 launches.
  • The patch focuses on balance adjustments and bug fixes rather than new content.
  • The full 1.0 release will arrive in 2024 on PC and Switch, featuring the game's conclusion and complete story.

Supergiant Games has released Patch 11 for their hit roguelike Hades II, marking the final update before the game exits early access and launches its complete 1.0 version. Though the developers previously indicated Patch 10 would be the last pre-release update, they decided an additional round of refinements was necessary based on player feedback.

Unlike previous major content updates, Patch 11 focuses primarily on balance adjustments, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements. The patch aims to polish the existing experience rather than introduce new features or story elements, ensuring the early access build is as smooth as possible before the full launch.

“While we said our prior patch would likely be our last before our v1.0 launch, as the Fates would have it, there is indeed this one more,” Supergiant explained in their official patch notes. This additional update demonstrates the studio’s commitment to refining the game based on community input during the early access period.

Hades II entered early access in May 2024, following the development model of its predecessor. The game puts players in the role of Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld and sister to the first game’s protagonist, Zagreus. Throughout early access, Supergiant has steadily expanded the game with new weapons, areas, mechanics, and story content.

The upcoming Version 1.0 will include significant additions not present in the early access builds. Most notably, players will finally experience the game’s conclusion and complete story arc. Currently, even with Patch 11 installed, the narrative remains unfinished after the final boss encounter.

When 1.0 launches, Hades II will simultaneously release on PC and Nintendo Switch, with PlayStation and Xbox versions planned for a later date. While no specific release date has been announced, Supergiant has confirmed it will arrive sometime in 2024, potentially within the next few months.

Interestingly, Patch 11 also includes a voice actor change for the goddess Athena, with Ethel Cutler taking over the role from Marin M. Miller. This attention to detail, even this close to launch, speaks to Supergiant’s meticulous approach to game development.
