T1’s Doran reaching Worlds final puts spotlight on Chovy as the only 2020 DRX starter without a championship

4 of 5 teammates from that roster have now either won Worlds or reached the finals.

TL;DR
  • T1 has reached the 2025 Worlds final with Doran, who was part of DRX's 2020 starting lineup alongside Chovy, Deft, Pyosik, and Keria.
  • If T1 wins, Chovy will be the only player from that 2020 DRX roster without a Worlds title after Deft and Pyosik won in 2022 and Keria won in 2023.
  • Gen.G was eliminated in the semifinals by KT Rolster, meaning Chovy still hasn't reached a Worlds final despite domestic and MSI success.

T1 has advanced to the 2025 League of Legends World Championship final with top laner Doran in the starting lineup. If T1 wins, Chovy will become the only player from DRX’s 2020 starting roster who has never lifted the Summoner’s Cup.

The 2020 DRX lineup featured Doran, Pyosik, Chovy, Deft, and Keria. That team exited Worlds 2020 in the quarterfinals after a 0-3 sweep by DAMWON Gaming. The roster split up after the season, with each player joining different LCK organizations.

Since then, the success stories have piled up. Deft and Pyosik won Worlds together in 2022 when DRX claimed an underdog championship run. Keria joined T1 in 2021 and won Worlds in 2023 alongside Faker. Now Doran stands one series away from making it four champions out of five from that 2020 roster.

Chovy remains the exception. Despite collecting multiple LCK titles with Gen.G and winning MSI earlier in 2025, he has never reached a Worlds final. Gen.G’s latest run ended in the semifinals when KT Rolster eliminated them. That semifinal loss featured individual mistakes from Chovy, including a crucial death to Bdd’s Azir.

Even if T1 loses the final, Doran will have accomplished something Chovy hasn’t. Reaching a Worlds final is itself a milestone that has eluded Gen.G’s star mid laner throughout his career.

The KT victory adds another layer to the narrative. Bdd, who plays mid for KT, was replaced by Gen.G when they brought in Chovy. If KT wins the championship, the player Gen.G moved on from will have won Worlds before their current franchise centerpiece.

The 2020 reunion that never was

Gen.G built their 2025 roster around Chovy with Kiin, Canyon, Ruler, and Duro. The team dominated domestically and won MSI, but their Worlds campaign followed the same pattern as previous years. Another semifinals exit. Another year without reaching the final stage.

T1 will face KT Rolster in the 2025 Worlds final. Doran starts for T1 alongside Faker, Oner, Gumayusi, and his former DRX teammate Keria. The championship match will determine whether four-fifths of that 2020 DRX lineup eventually found glory, leaving only Chovy still searching.
