Team Cherry has outlined details for an upcoming patch that will make Hollow Knight Silksong‘s opening hours less punishing. The update targets two early bosses and several quality-of-life improvements that should smooth out the game’s notorious difficulty spikes.
The patch will slightly nerf both Moorwing and Sister Splinter, two bosses that have become infamous gatekeepers in the early game. While Team Cherry hasn’t specified exact changes, the adjustments aim to prevent these encounters from feeling like insurmountable walls for players still learning Hornet’s moveset.
Environmental hazards are also getting attention. The Sand Carver, those massive sandworms that burst from the ground, will now deal one mask of damage instead of two. This change alone should make traversing certain areas far less frustrating for players who haven’t yet found health upgrades.
Economy improvements form another major part of the update. Players will find more rosaries throughout their journey, addressing complaints about early-game currency scarcity. Bench costs are also being reduced, meaning players won’t need to hoard their precious rosaries just to save their progress or swap tools at rest points.
The patch includes numerous bug fixes as well, with the “Snitch Pick” issue specifically mentioned as resolved. This particular bug has been a thorn in players’ sides, though Team Cherry hasn’t elaborated on what exactly it entailed.
When getting lost actually pays off
These changes reflect Team Cherry’s response to player feedback about Silksong‘s opening act. The early game has been criticized for its punishing difficulty curve, especially before players unlock more movement options and health upgrades in Act two. By slightly reducing boss difficulty and improving the economy, new players should find a smoother path into the game’s intricate systems.
This won’t be the last round of adjustments either. Team Cherry has already confirmed a second patch is coming soon, suggesting the developer is actively monitoring player experiences and making refinements. No specific release date was given for either update, with the studio simply calling the first patch “upcoming.”
