The Brookhaven Police Department arrested Twitch streamer AspenKartier for abusing her puppy. The dog, reportedly just three months old, was removed from the residence and placed in the care of DeKalb County Animal Services.
After the arrest, PETA stepped in to recognize the officers involved. The animal rights organization sent them vegan chocolates and a framed certificate to thank them for intervening in the alleged animal cruelty case.
The puppy is currently being held by DeKalb County Animal Services. Authorities have confirmed the young dog is safe and receiving care while the case moves forward.
Animal cruelty investigations typically begin with a complaint from neighbors, witnesses, or online reports. When evidence suggests abuse, law enforcement coordinates with county animal services to remove the animal and assess its condition. The animal usually remains in protective custody while legal proceedings unfold.
When PETA gets involved
PETA occasionally issues public recognition to law enforcement agencies or individuals who take action in animal welfare cases. The organization is known for high-profile advocacy campaigns and symbolic gestures like this one.
For those wondering, vegan chocolate simply means chocolate made without milk or other animal-derived ingredients. Most dark chocolate fits the bill.
