Valve has revealed the winners of the 2025 Steam Awards, with Hollow Knight: Silksong claiming the top prize for Game of the Year. In addition, Team Cherry’s metroidvania darling also took home Best Game You Suck At—making it the only game to win two categories this year.
The Steam Awards are player-voted awards that are run via the storefront’s Steam Winter Sale. Players nominate and vote for their favorite games across multiple categories throughout the year. Naturally, given its position as most-hyped game to release in 2025, Silksong was a shoe-in for accolades.
The other winners are also ahead in the zeitgeist. Baldur’s Gate 3 took home Labor of Love, recognizing Larian’s ongoing developer support and updates. Meanwhile, Hades 2 won Best Game on Steam Deck, which no surprise considering the prevalence of itself and its predecessor on other portable platforms, such as the Switch or the Switch 2.
In this ilk, other winners include The Midnight Walk for VR Game of the Year, PEAK for Better with Friends, Dispatch for Outstanding Story-Rich Game, and RV There Yet? for Sit Back and Relax.
Moreover, Silent Hill f secured Outstanding Visual Style, while ARC Raiders won Most Innovative Gameplay. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, having already swept The Game Awards, claimed Best Soundtrack to add to its hoard.
Indicative of Steam’s community
The list of winners here is a perfect match to the games that gripped social media and fandom spaces in 2025. In particular, Dispatch, PEAK, Baldur’s Gate 3, Expedition 33, and (of course) Silksong are all standout titles that could easily define 2025’s retinue.
