The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt turned a decade old last year, but it may just now be getting a new lease on life. While details remain shrouded in rumor, there’s a chance that the highly-acclaimed RPG might be getting some paid DLC in 2026.

Last month, Polish outlet Strefa Inwestorów reported on some predictions from Noble Securities analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski. Headlining these statements was the prediction that “We expect the next paid add-on (DLC) for The Witcher 3 to be released in May 2026. We assume sales of 11 million copies at $30 each next year.”

Chrzanowski also predicts that this release will kick off the marketing campaign for The Witcher 4, which he believes will release in 2027.

This story is further corroborated by Borys Nieśpielak, a trusted source within the Polish games industry. He predicted this expansion would be revealed at The Game Awards 2025, which never materialised. However, Nieśpielak stands by the existence of this expansion in his discussion with writer Robert Purchese from Eurogamer.

Nieśpielak directed Purchese to a CD Projekt Red earnings call transcript, where it was mentioned that “In terms of Fool’s Theory […] the majority of the team is currently involved in the other project, and also support for The Witcher 4.”

Nieśpielak previously suggested that Fool’s Theory would be working on this expansion, and the fact that Fool’s Theory is working on an unannounced project here, while working on Witcher 4 and a remaster of the first Witcher, is certainly food for thought. The earnings call also confirms that Witcher 4 will not be launching in 2026.

What a new Witcher 3 expansion could mean

Naturally, all these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, as CD Projekt Red as confirmed nothing at time of writing.

However, if a Witcher 3 expansion did drop in 2026, the “11 million copies” prediction may not be so far off. Frequently called one of the best games of all time, Witcher 3 is a title with a place in many hearts and many game libraries. Even if a $30 DLC is no small price tag, it’s likely that any such expansion would sell gangbusters.
