A YouTuber is now standing trial for the alleged murder of his pregnant girlfriend in a case that has taken roughly four years to reach court. Prosecutors claim he attempted to establish an alibi by broadcasting a pre-recorded Grand Theft Auto livestream during the time they believe the killing took place.
The accused allegedly planned and recorded a GTA gaming session in advance, then scheduled it to broadcast as if he were streaming live at home. According to investigators, the stream contained several red flags that suggested it was not actually live. The streamer reportedly told viewers he couldn’t read or respond to chat during the broadcast, which is unusual behavior for an interactive livestream.
Prosecutors say the digital evidence undermines the alibi completely. CCTV footage allegedly captured the accused traveling to and from relevant locations during the night in question. He allegedly took a bus into town wearing multiple pairs of gloves, then later took a taxi that dropped him at his exact home address after the alleged murder.
The payment trail proved particularly damaging. Investigators say the accused paid for the taxi ride using a credit card in his own name, creating a time-stamped transaction record. Phone data allegedly shows his device was powered off for hours, then turned back on shortly after the taxi dropped him home.
Additional evidence includes claims that the accused visited the victim’s parents’ home in the weeks after her death while appearing to grieve. He allegedly left his phone behind during one visit, later retrieving it. Prosecutors say he had left the phone recording audio the entire time, apparently attempting to determine whether the family suspected him. After he killed his girlfriend, he then called the emergency line himself, telling them to “please come as soon as you can, she’s pregnant, she’s cold”.
