After a successful roll-out for PC, Balatro, has finally hit the mobile scene. The game launched on both iOS and Android platforms, but not without dealing players a few jokers along the way.
While iOS users enjoyed a smooth installation process, Android gamers found themselves caught in a frustrating loop. Many reported encountering the error OR-FGEMF-20 when attempting to purchase the game from the Google Play Store. The glitch affected various payment methods and left thousands of fans unable to play the game.
The issue caused a heavy reaction from the community, with gamers taking to social media to voice their concerns. Theories about the outage ranged from potential fraud flags because of high-volume purchases, to Google’s payment system going bust. Anyway, the community had to let some steam off on various social media platforms.
Luckily, Balatro’s developers LocalThunk were swiftly able to fix the problem. By late afternoon on launch day, reports started rolling in that the error had been resolved. Players confirmed successful transactions, and the Android version of Balatro started dealing out fun to patient gamers.
Balantro is a unique blend of poker mechanics and roguelike strategy. Players build powerful hands of cards while navigating various challenges and unlocking special “jokers” that can turn the tide of a game. Its PC version has already gathered a large following, which is why mobile gamers were so eager to finally start, too.
LocalThunk earned praise for their player-friendly approach. Balatro allows users to unlock everything without grinding through multiple playthroughs—a refreshing stance in the world of gaming in 2024.
Despite the initial hiccups, user feedback has been largely positive. Many say that the game perfectly translates to mobile devices. The ability to pause mid-run and resume later adds to its appeal for people that already play on PC.
Unfortunately, Balatro currently doesn’t support cross platform matches, meaning that you cannot pick up a PC game on your mobile device. However, LocalThunk has already hinted that cross-save and other enhancements may be in the cards for future updates.
