TL;DR
  • Destiny said he won't condemn political violence until Trump does, calling it a "prisoner's dilemma" where both sides need to de-escalate together.
  • The streamer argued conservatives should fear violence at their events to make them reduce inflammatory rhetoric.
  • His comments follow recent political violence incidents including the July 2024 assassination attempt on Trump.

Political streamer Destiny made a big claim during a recent livestream. He declared he won’t disavow political violence until President Trump does the same.

“I’ll disavow political violence when Trump does,” Destiny said on stream. He didn’t stop there. The streamer argued that conservatives “need to be afraid of getting killed when they go to their events” so they’ll “turn down the temperature.”

He called Democrats “optics cucked” for always condemning violence while Republicans don’t return the favor.

Steven Bonnell II, better known as Destiny, is one of the biggest political debate streamers online. He streams on YouTube after Twitch banned him in 2022. His debates with guests from across the political spectrum regularly pull in thousands of viewers.

The streamer explained his stance as a response to what he sees as an unfair dynamic. Democrats condemn violence immediately after any incident. Trump and other Republican leaders, according to Destiny, either stay silent or make things worse with inflammatory statements.

Destiny frames this as a “prisoner’s dilemma”—a situation where both sides need to cooperate for the best outcome. He wants the president to lead by example in cooling down political rhetoric. Until that happens, he’s not playing along.

The comments come after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Political tensions in America have been running high ever since.

His words drew immediate criticism. Critics say he’s calling for violence against conservatives. Supporters argue he’s highlighting a double standard where only one side tries to reduce tensions.
