Content creator Destiny has been banned from Kick.com until 31st July. The platform is known for its relaxed rules–but this time Destiny has gone too far. The platform’s leadership accuses the streamer of hate speech, focusing on comments about Trump supporter Corey Comperatore.
Following the incident at Donald Trump’s rally last Saturday, the 50-year-old fireman tragically lost his life when he was struck by a bullet intended for the former president.
This is not the first platform ban for Destiny, whose real name is Steven Bonnell II. Previously booted from Twitch for “hateful conduct,” he found a new home on Kick.com. The platform prides itself as a haven for streamers seeking more lenient content policies. But it seems even Kick has its limits.
Given Destiny’s well-known left-leaning views, it’s not too surprising that he received a ban for criticizing conservatives on a platform that often caters to right-wing content creators. Most Kick viewers have expected why Destiny would be banned from Kick, eventually.
Kick’s decision has put a spotlight on the platform’s inconsistent rule enforcement. Users have been quick to compare Destiny’s punishment to the seemingly lighter consequences faced by other streamers for worse actions.
The ban has also fed discussions about the state of free speech on streaming platforms. Destiny has been banned from Twitch and Kick, leaving some wondering where political commentators can go. Yet we should also keep in mind that platforms may set and enforce their own standards, regardless of political leanings.
For now, Destiny’s future on Kick remains uncertain. While the ban is only temporary, it raises questions about his long-term viability of Destiny’s future on the platform.
Some speculate he might seek for better circumstances on other platforms like Rumble. But most likely he will just swallow the ban stay on Kick as the ban is not permanent.
Destiny’s ability to stir up controversy remains undiminished. This ban won’t be the political streamer’s last.
