Erde has been named MVP of Valorant Champions.

Champions is the final and biggest event of the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) season. It sits above the Masters events and every regional league. Winning MVP there puts a player among the top names of the year.

Erde is just 18, and plays as an in-game leader (IGL). The IGL is the player who makes the calls during a match. That means choosing which site to attack, how to set up on defense, and when to rotate. Most IGLs give up some firepower to handle this. Many teams accept lower kill numbers from their leader as the price of good calls.

Erde doesn’t follow that rule. Fans call him a “fragging IGL,” which means a leader who also gets a lot of kills. Supporters credit him with winning key rounds and changing the outcome of several games.

Erde wasn’t the only name in the MVP debate. Many viewers saw Lukxo as a serious option. Several argued the race was close until Erde’s latest match decided it.
