Four major VR titles from Insomniac Games have been quietly removed from the Oculus Store without any prior announcement. Stormland, Edge of Nowhere, Feral Rites, and The Unspoken are no longer available for purchase, raising concerns about the future of these Oculus-exclusive games.
The removal happened so discreetly that even websites dedicated to tracking delisted games initially missed it. Gaming journalist Dominic Tarason, who first noticed the disappearance, reached out to Oculus for clarification but was redirected to Insomniac Games.
These titles represent Insomniac’s significant contribution to early high-end VR gaming. Stormland, released in 2019, pushed the boundaries with its open-world design and innovative movement mechanics.
Edge of Nowhere offered a third-person VR adventure with cinematic storytelling, while The Unspoken delivered competitive multiplayer spellcasting action. Feral Rites combined brawling gameplay with exploration elements.
The games were developed under exclusive funding deals with Oculus, which limited their availability to the Oculus platform. Players who previously purchased these titles can still access and play them, but new customers can no longer buy them.
The gaming community has begun speculating about possible reasons for the removal. Some believe licensing issues might be behind the decision, while others suggest the games could be headed to other platforms like SteamVR or even PlayStation VR.
“I’ve played each of these games and I hope they get ported to SteamVR,” one player commented. “It would be a major loss if these became abandonware.”
This situation highlights ongoing concerns about digital game preservation, especially for platform-exclusive VR titles. With Meta shifting focus toward standalone headsets like the Quest 3, the future of PC VR content from the company’s earlier initiatives remains unclear.
