FromSoftware revealed The Forsaken Hollows during a PlayStation showcase. The paid DLC launches December 4 for $15 USD across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.

The expansion adds two new Nightfarers and two new Nightlords to the co-op action game. Nightfarers are playable character classes with preset loadouts and abilities. Nightlords serve as the game’s capstone bosses that players must defeat to complete a run.

The trailer also confirms an additional Shifting Earth event. These large-scale mid-run occurrences reshape the map layout and spawn patterns, forcing players to adapt their routes and tactics.

Several boss encounters appear in the gameplay footage. The Divine Beast Dancing Lion from Shadow of the Erdtree shows up as a blizzard arena fight. Another sequence features a dark, agile knight duel that matches Knight Artorias’ signature moveset from Dark Souls.

The trailer shows Gladius—an existing Nightreign antagonist—outside his usual arena. This suggests a new overworld invasion event. New enemy groups including armored white knights and Fire Knight-style soldiers from Shadow of the Erdtree also make appearances.

The Forsaken Hollows expands content within Nightreign‘s existing map rather than introducing a new playfield. New points of interest and reconfigured zones slot into the current environment alongside the added Shifting Earth variant.

Elden Ring Nightreign is a session-based spinoff where up to three players tackle procedurally-seeded runs across a shared map. Each night follows a similar structure: loot camps and landmarks, gather gear and runes, survive escalating enemy waves, then face a Nightlord before time expires.

What’s actually new here

The December 4 release fits within FromSoftware parent company Kadokawa’s fiscal year 2025 guidance. Financial documents indicated Nightreign would receive DLC support during this window.

The DLC requires the base Nightreign game to play. The trailer’s end card lists “and more” beyond the confirmed Nightfarers, Nightlords, and Shifting Earth addition, but FromSoftware hasn’t detailed those extras yet.
