Kog’Maw is finally living his “Baby Baron” dream.
A pre-release spotlight from the League of Legends PBE shows off Prestige Classic Baron Kog’Maw. The skin turns the Void’s hungriest marksman into a pocket-sized version of Baron Nashor.
Kog’Maw keeps his low, four-legged shape. But his usual Void look is gone, replaced by Baron’s body and colors.
He also gets more than his normal two big eyes, copying Baron’s many-eyed face.
Purple takes over everything. His attacks and abilities drop the default green for bright purple particles, linking the skin to both Baron and the Void.
The best detail comes after he dies. Kog’Maw’s passive, Icathian Surprise, lets him run around for a few seconds before he explodes. On this skin, his eyes vanish after the blast. What’s left looks like an empty shell.
Recall, effects, and a possible Vilemaw chroma
The recall shows Kog’Maw waking up. At one point, the model seems to jump to a new spot. This is only animation, and his hitbox doesn’t move. Still, some players think it could look like lag and briefly confuse enemies.
Fans claim the wake-up part has appeared in older Kog’Maw skins. That hasn’t been confirmed.
The effects look clean on their own. Some players worry the trail from his E, Void Ooze, could be hard to see on parts of the map. The landing zone for his R, Living Artillery, raised similar concerns, although a blue ring around the impact area helps.
The preview also appears to include an alternate chroma. Many players believe it’s a nod to Vilemaw, the giant spider boss from Twisted Treeline, the three-on-three map Riot removed in 2019. Riot hasn’t confirmed this link.
Why Baron fits Kog’Maw so well
Baron Nashor is the biggest late-game objective on Summoner’s Rift. Killing it gives Hand of Baron, which powers up nearby minions and helps teams break structures and end games.
Kog’Maw and Baron share a lot. Both are Void monsters. Both are purple and alien. Both spit things at people. Players have called Kog’Maw “Baby Baron” for years because of his shape.
Fans loved that the skin was built just for Kog’Maw instead of dropping him into a generic skin line. Some already call it his best skin.
The skin already has players asking for more monster makeovers. Fan wishlists include Wraith Nocturne, Golem Malphite, Gromp Tahm Kench, Vilemaw Elise, and Rift Herald Rek’Sai.
