Riot Games has revealed G2 Esports mid laner Rasmus “Caps” Winther as the newest member of the League of Legends Hall of Legends, announcing the honor with a dedicated trailer.

The Danish mid laner is the third player ever selected for the program, following Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao. He’s the first European to receive the honor and the second mid laner after Faker.

Caps broke through with Fnatic in 2017 and quickly became Europe’s best mid laner. In 2018 he led Fnatic to the World Championship final, the region’s first appearance in a Worlds final since Season one. Fnatic lost 0-3 to Invictus Gaming.

He then moved to G2 Esports for 2019 and became the centerpiece of arguably the strongest Western roster ever built. That year G2 won the LEC, took down elite Korean and Chinese opposition, and lifted the Mid-Season Invitational trophy after a 3-0 sweep of Team Liquid in a final that was reported at the time as the fastest best-of-five in international League history.

G2 went on to reach the 2019 Worlds final, where they lost 0-3 to FunPlus Phoenix. That made Caps one of the very few players to reach back-to-back Worlds finals with two different organizations.

He’s never won Worlds. Uzi’s induction already established that a world title isn’t a hard requirement, with Riot weighing longevity, influence, individual reputation, and regional impact alongside trophies.

Caps has also stacked up a long list of domestic titles across Fnatic and G2 and has stayed at or near the top of European play through years of roster and meta changes. His champion pool is a big part of the legend: Sylas, LeBlanc, Syndra, plus a habit of dragging marksmen into mid lane and making it work.
