A Capcom-focused account says work on a modern version of the 1999 dinosaur survival-horror game began in 2022, but the claim currently lacks official confirmation or independent supporting evidence.
The claim comes from the account Team Biohazard, which alleges Capcom kicked off development on a Dino Crisis remake in 2022. That’s the whole report. Nothing more.
Team Biohazard has floated Capcom-related claims before, including talk of Resident Evil Code: Veronica and Resident Evil 0 remakes. There’s also an image circulating that looks like cover art or a loading screen. Treat it as unofficial. Nobody has confirmed where it came from or whether it’s a mock-up.
That rumor is plausible on paper. Capcom has built a hit machine out of remaking its classics. Resident Evil 2 (2019), Resident Evil 3 (2020), and Resident Evil 4 (2023) all reworked old survival-horror games into modern successes. A Dino Crisis revival fits that pattern perfectly.
Capcom also has recent experience animating big creatures through Monster Hunter, and it built swarms of dinosaurs for 2023’s Exoprimal. But plausible isn’t the same as confirmed. Assets and design goals don’t automatically transfer between projects.
The original Dino Crisis launched on PlayStation in 1999, directed by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. It swapped zombies for dinosaurs and put players in the boots of Regina, a special-ops agent sent to a remote research facility. The plot revolved around Dr. Edward Kirk and a dangerous experimental technology called Third Energy. Expect tight resource management, puzzles, locked rooms, and fast, aggressive enemies.
Dino Crisis 2 followed in 2000 with a faster, action-heavy style. The light-gun spin-off Dino Stalker came later, and Dino Crisis 3 landed on Xbox in 2003 with a space setting and a rough reception. Capcom hasn’t touched the mainline series since.
That long silence is exactly why even thin rumors get so much attention. Fans have campaigned for years, and Dino Crisis ranked strongly in Capcom’s big fan surveys.
For now, nothing about a possible remake is known. No platforms, no release window, no gameplay, no word on whether Regina returns, and no official reveal plans exist.
