The Elder Scrolls VI may finally get a real name.
Bethesda reportedly plans to reveal the game’s full title within the next month.
Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls VI at its E3 show on June 10, 2018. Fans got a short shot of a rocky coastline, then the logo. There was no subtitle, no release date, and no gameplay.
Starfield was announced at the same show, and Bethesda Game Studios worked on it first. Starfield came out on September 6, 2023.
Why the name matters
Elder Scrolls subtitles usually tell you where you’re going. Morrowind and Skyrim are both places in Tamriel. Oblivion and Daggerfall also point to key places in their worlds.
So a subtitle could finally confirm the setting. It could also just be a name. Nobody knows yet.
Fans have been betting on Hammerfell for years. Hammerfell is the desert home of the Redguards, and many people think the 2018 teaser’s coastline looks like it.
Some fans have pushed the name “Sentinel,” which is a major city in Hammerfell. Others expect a mix of Hammerfell and High Rock, the Breton region next door. That would match Daggerfall, which covered parts of both around the Iliac Bay.
Do not pre-order your vacation days yet
A name doesn’t mean the game is close to launch.
Bethesda’s marketing has been fast before. Fallout 4 was announced in June 2015 and came out that November. Fallout Shelter launched on iOS the same day it was revealed. Oblivion Remastered was announced and released on April 22, 2025.
But Skyrim was announced in December 2010 and only came out in November 2011. There’s no proof The Elder Scrolls VI will follow the Fallout 4 plan, and there’s no sign of a shadow drop.
