British Valorant pro Adam “ec1s” Eccles has called time on his competitive career, announcing his retirement alongside his graduation from Maryville University.
The move closes the book on one of the more well-traveled careers in early Valorant. ec1s was part of the game’s first wave of European pros, back when unsigned mixes were turning into the rosters that would shape the scene for years.
He first made his name with fish123, the lineup that eventually became the backbone of Team Liquid’s debut Valorant roster. That team is still remembered as one of the most beloved early EU squads, and ec1s’ top-fragging debut against FunPlus Phoenix is one of the highlights long-time fans still bring up.
From there, his journey got a lot more international. He later joined 100 Thieves in North America, became a recognizable face for NA viewers, and even spent time competing in India. Few players from his generation can match that geographic spread.
While balancing all of that, ec1s was also studying at Maryville University, one of the most respected names in collegiate esports. Graduating while still active in pro play isn’t a small feat, and his retirement now lines up neatly with finishing his degree.
